  • Grants through the Workplace Charging Scheme cover up to 75% of buying and installing charge points, capped at £500 per socket.
  • The scheme runs until 31 March 2027 — gov.uk currently calls this its final year.
  • Eligible: registered businesses, charities, public-sector bodies and small accommodation businesses with dedicated off-street parking.
  • The real constraint is rarely the charger — it is whether your supply and distribution board can take a bank of high-demand circuits.
  • Every installation is wired to BS 7671 Section 722 by an electrical contractor, not a charger reseller subcontracting the wiring.

The fleet clock is running

New petrol and diesel car sales in the UK end in 2030, and by 2035 all new cars and vans must be zero emission — which means every company fleet is now on a replacement schedule that ends at a plug. The economics already point the same way: electricity through your own supply costs a fraction of what the same energy costs on the public rapid-charging network, so a business that charges its vehicles on site keeps the saving that a business paying forecourt rates gives away. Depot and workplace charging is how fleets actually make EVs cheap to run — the public network is for the gaps.
