Its record since is honest: the first interim target, a 25% emissions cut by 2023, was achieved, and the council has been publicly candid that the next milestone is at risk. An authority that publishes its misses as well as its wins is one whose numbers you can plan against.

It punishes bad specification, not solar itself. Marine atmospheres are formally classed as higher-corrosivity environments, so a coastal install should use corrosion-appropriate mounting and fixings and panels tested to the industry’s salt-mist standard — all off the shelf, and how we specify here. Properly designed, yes — wind is a calculation, not a gamble. Structural design works from your location’s basic wind speed under the relevant standard, and coastal exposure raises the numbers: more fixings, stronger rails, arrays kept back from roof edges and corners where uplift concentrates — engineering to the site you have, not the site the brochure assumed.
We run refrigeration around the clock — does solar make a dent in a load like that?
A real one, within honest limits. Cold storage and food businesses carry a flat base-load, and the daytime half of it is met directly by the array at full import value — often the strongest self-consumption profile there is. The overnight half needs either grid power or a battery, and whether the battery earns its capital depends on your tariff and profile. Bring a year of half-hourly data and the answer stops being a guess.
